TV Host Ruth Langsford Shares a Heartbreaking Personal Confession…

Ruth Langsford has shared her deep fears of developing Alzheimer’s disease, an issue that has personally impacted her family.

The 63-year-old Loose Women presenter spoke about the emotional toll dementia has had, with her father, Dennis, passing away from the condition in 2012, and her mother, Joan, now residing in a care home after being diagnosed with the same illness.

Ruth’s father first showed signs of Alzheimer’s in the 1990s and was cared for at home until his death. Tragically, Joan followed the same path, also developing dementia.

Speaking to Woman & Home magazine, Ruth revealed her anxiety, saying, “I’m a bit head in the sand about Alzheimer’s. Both my parents had it, I know what it entails, and it horrifies me.”

Although Ruth has a family history, she has chosen not to take a predictive test, stating that knowing her risk would not change her situation due to the lack of a cure.

Everyday memory lapses, such as forgetting where she put her glasses, often trigger her fears.

However, Ruth strives to focus on the present and live life fully, balancing health with enjoying life’s pleasures. She hopes her openness will raise awareness about the impact of dementia on families.
