Dad lets 3-year-old daughter pick her picture day outfit, leaving mom stunned by the final choice…

For many kids, annual class photo day is a big deal—they get to choose their own outfits. However, for some, it can bring anxiety about how their clothes will be perceived, and others might find it challenging to smile naturally for the camera.

Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach was eagerly anticipating her bedtime routine the night before her class photo. But her excitement turned into dismay when she saw the outfit her parents had picked for her.

Kaylieann was determined to make her own choice.

Her favorite superheroes are Superman and Supergirl, though she lovingly calls them “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl” due to significant hearing loss that prevents her from hearing the letter “S.” So, when her parents presented outfit options, her response was clear:

“Pootergirl!” she announced with excitement.

Her dad, Austin Steinbach, couldn’t argue with her decision.

Dressed in her Supergirl costume and clutching a matching doll, Kaylieann posed for her class photo with an infectious smile. Her father shared that she often wears superhero costumes to school, delighting classmates and teachers alike.

When Austin shared her photo on Reddit, the outpouring of support from the deaf community and others amazed him.

“She truly is a superhero,” Austin said.
