In 2009, Shelley Brockbank lost her beloved cat, Alfie.
Despite her best efforts—posting flyers, contacting shelters, and speaking with locals—Alfie was nowhere to be found. Knowing his habit of jumping into cars, Shelley eventually assumed he had been accidentally taken far away.
Years passed, and Shelley lost hope of ever seeing Alfie again. But last month, something extraordinary happened.
While scrolling through Facebook, Shelley came across a post from the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter featuring a stray cat named Buddy. Though he had changed over the years, Shelley instantly recognized him as her long-lost Alfie.
Shelley contacted the shelter and was soon reunited with her pet. Shelter staff believe Alfie had lived in two different homes before ending up as a stray and being rescued by animal control.
Now 16 years old, Alfie’s adventurous days are behind him, and he’s settling back into the home he left so long ago.
Shelley shared the joyful reunion on Facebook, writing, “He’s finally home! I like to believe he still remembers me.”
Her children, especially her eldest daughter Amelia, are thrilled to welcome Alfie into their lives. Shelley hopes that, surrounded by love and comfort, Alfie will no longer feel the urge to wander.
