The old man’s name was Dobri, and many would consider his living conditions to be poor. However, his story taught local residents an important lesson about not judging people based on their appearances.

Despite lacking many material possessions, his compassion was far more valuable than money. After seeing what this elderly man accomplishes every day, you will realize that superheroes do exist.

This man is not what you might assume. Dobri Dobrev, who is 101 years old, lost most of his hearing during World War II.

For decades, he has walked 15 kilometers daily in homemade clothing and leather boots, traveling from his town to Sofia, Bulgaria, where he spends his days begging for alms. Remarkably, Dobrev never complained, living on only about $100 a month.

He donated all of his earnings—over $50,000—to orphanages throughout the city. Never keeping a single penny for himself, he is often referred to as “The Saint of Baylovo.”

Known as “Dyado Dobri” (Grandpa Dobri), he embodies extraordinary altruism. If everyone followed his example, the world would be a much better place.
