Nicole Kidman married Tom Cruise in 1990, and the couple quickly became one of Hollywood’s most stunning pairs.
Unfortunately, their happiness was short-lived, lasting only until 2001, when their relationship faced a crisis during the filming of “Eyes Wide Shut.” In previous interviews, Nicole expressed that the news of their divorce came as a tremendous shock to her.
Shortly after the separation, Kidman began working on “The Hours,” portraying Virginia Woolf.
This role earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress, but the experience was challenging for her. Now, she reflects on that time, sharing her thoughts in a recent interview.
“I didn’t consider the risks I was taking back then. Now I realize I was just putting stones in my pocket and stepping into the river,” she explained during a conversation with BBC Radio 4.
Nicole acknowledged that she was not in the best place emotionally at the time. However, she connected deeply with Virginia’s character, feeling vulnerable, which helped her immerse herself in the role.
She noted that the film’s director was aware of her struggles and treated her with great care throughout the process.
