Barbra Streisand’s Advice for People Worried About Getting Older…

When asked if I’m scared of getting older, I laugh and say, “Of course! I looked better in my twenties than I do now.” But that doesn’t mean I’m genuinely afraid.

I once watched a documentary about a psychologist who sees 25-year-old women distressed over their first wrinkles or gray hairs.

They felt so troubled by these changes that they considered themselves old, avoiding dating and even thinking about having kids.

They feared that one day they would wake up and be unable to move, believing that youth was the only time worth living. This is a serious issue, almost a phobia, and it needs to be addressed.

Most women notice the effects of time on their appearance, but they don’t panic. There’s a time when you receive compliments from men, and later, when your kids and grandkids praise your cooking. You can’t compare these two phases.

The thought of hitting milestone ages—40, 50, or 60—can lead to depression for some. But what does age really matter?

Waking up each morning is a reason to celebrate. You should be grateful for every day you have. If you dread birthdays, then what’s the point of living?
