After 50 years in the spotlight, 73-year-old Michael Keaton now wants to be recognized by his birth name, Michael Douglas.
Early in his career, he had to choose a different stage name because another actor, Michael Douglas, was already registered with the Screen Actors Guild.
Keaton reportedly picked his now-famous name from a phone book, thinking it sounded fitting at the time.
Despite building a successful career as Michael Keaton, the actor now feels it’s time to reconnect with his original identity.
He hopes to blend both names professionally, combining the one he was born with and the one that brought him fame.
Keaton initially planned to use “Michael Keaton Douglas” in the credits of his 2023 film *Know Goes Away*, but due to production pressures, he forgot to implement the change.
However, he still plans to adopt the blended name in future projects, including the upcoming *Beetlejuice Beetlejuice*.
