On Friday morning, MailOnline reported that the *Madame Web* actress and Coldplay’s lead singer had ended their seven-year relationship.
While a source told People in June that the couple was “going strong,” MailOnline’s source now says, “Chris and Dakota have tried very hard recently to make their relationship work.”
“They will always care for each other, but they’ve both realized that the relationship isn’t sustainable in the long term,” the source added.
Both individuals are described as “busy,” with Martin occupied by Coldplay’s European tour and having “personal priorities, passions, and work commitments that don’t align.”
“They wanted it to work but it hasn’t, and they’ve decided it’s best to move on.”
However, Johnson’s representative has since clarified the situation, stating, “They are happily together,” on Friday afternoon.
Reports also indicate that Johnson was seen supporting Martin as recently as two weeks ago during a Coldplay performance in Helsinki, Finland.
Additionally, Coldplay’s new video, “feelslikeimfallinginlove,” was produced by Johnson’s company, TeaTime Pictures.
The couple has kept their relationship very private, appearing together only a few times since their romance began in 2017. In March 2024, it was reported that they had been “engaged for years” but had no immediate plans to marry.
