A woman named Chantelle Broughton, 29, from England, was astonished to have twins with completely different skin tones.

Her son has fair skin and green eyes, while her daughter has dark skin and dark eyes. At birth, the twins appeared identical, but over time, the girl’s skin darkened.

The twins, Ayon and Azirah, were born in April 2022. Initially, they looked very similar, but their appearances have since diverged significantly.

Chantelle, who has mixed-race heritage with a Nigerian father and a husband with Jamaican and Scottish roots, noticed the changes in her children’s skin and eye colors as they grew.

Passers-by often express surprise and ask if the twins are related when Chantelle is out with them. Not only do the twins differ in appearance, but also in personality.

Azirah is calm and obedient, while Ayon is more emotional and requires more attention.

Scientists explain that such a phenomenon can occur when one parent is of mixed-race ancestry, leading to variations in the skin and eye colors of the children.
