Belmond, a remarkable nine-year-old, doesn’t celebrate his birthday in the typical way. Instead of focusing on gifts and festivities, he directs his attention to a cause that deeply moved him – the plight of the homeless and hungry.

After a trip to California opened his eyes to the struggles of those living on the streets, Belmond felt compelled to make a difference. Rather than receiving gifts for his birthday, he chose to channel his compassion into helping those in need.

Last year, he requested food and monetary donations in lieu of traditional birthday presents, directing the contributions to local hunger-fighting charities.

Encouraged by the success of his initiative, Belmond, with the support of his parents, launched a nonprofit called Belmond’s Wish.

This year, on his ninth birthday, he reiterated his commitment to aiding those with little to nothing. Through a well-organized fundraising event, they doubled the amount raised from the previous year, collecting $4,000 and two tons of produce.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Belmond delivered the funds and food to local food banks in Iston, providing support during a crucial time for these organizations.

This fourth-grader’s selfless actions have made a significant impact, ensuring that numerous families will have food on their tables during the festive season.
