Numerous artists have graced the stage of “The Voice” over the years, consistently delivering impressive performances.
The reality singing competition, which has been running on NBC for over a decade, continues to unearth exceptional talent and serve as a platform for those embarking on their music careers.
During a recent episode, D.Smooth, a 25-year-old singer from Birmingham, Alabama, wowed the audience with a remarkable rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.”
The performance sparked a friendly competition between coaches Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan, both vying to have D.Smooth on their team.
Despite not turning for D.Smooth, Chance The Rapper offered valuable feedback, praising the singer’s control and urging Clarkson to turn around. Blake Shelton, a seasoned coach, added humor to the situation, highlighting Horan’s spontaneous turn.
Clarkson, defending her decision, playfully insisted that she decides when to turn, stating, “Mom spins when she wants to spin!” Later, she commended D.Smooth for infusing a unique Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight vibe into the song, distinguishing it from Sheeran’s version.
Ultimately, D.Smooth chose to join Clarkson’s team. In the subsequent battle rounds, he faced off against ALI, a deaf singer.
Although ALI won the round, Clarkson used a strategic “playoff berth” to ensure D.Smooth’s advancement to the playoffs, bypassing the Merciless Knockouts.
Expressing gratitude on Facebook, D.Smooth celebrated the joy of earning Clarkson’s “Playoff Pass” for the season, highlighting the divine assurance he felt throughout the week and the shared prayer with his battle partner, ALI, which he believed opened doors for both of them.
