When the actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, she and her 13-year pal Martyn LeNoble had only recently begun dating. Christina was shocked and astounded by the news because she had witnessed her mother suffer from the same sickness.
Christina admitted that it was difficult, but she made every effort to embrace the changes in her life and the reality that her physical attributes had changed. She stated she put on a cheerful front for everyone else, but Martyn came in handy. She went on to say: “He gave me something to smile about and something I genuinely wanted in life.”
Christina constantly expressed her appreciation for Martyn’s help during her illness. She eventually beat cancer with Martyn’s help in August 2008, the same month she was diagnosed.
Christina and Martyn dated for two years after her cancer diagnosis before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2010. Martyn and Christina were both preparing for their second wedding.
Christina and Martyn married in February 2013, three years after they originally started dating. Their daughter, who was two years old at the time of the wedding, had already been born. The wedding was attended by just close family and friends at their Los Angeles home.
The rings that the couple exchanged were designed by Neil Lane, while Christina’s gown was a work of art by Maria Lucia Hohan. Their joint daughter, Sadie Grace, was joined in the family by a child from Martyn’s previous marriage.
Martyn’s child from a previous marriage is Marlon. Christina was childless before to conceiving Sadie Grace with Martyn, yet she is a devoted stepmother to Sadie Grace and Marlon.
Christina disclosed on Twitter in August 2021 that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disorder that affects the outer sheath of the nerves. She expressed her gratitude to individuals who were going through similar difficulties.
In October 2022, more than a year after receiving her MS diagnosis, Christina tweeted once more to share that she was making her first public appearance. Then she displayed various walking aids she would use to get around.
She was able to walk at first with a cane, but as time went on or the weather got colder, she found it harder to get around without her body giving out. Since then, she has started using a wheelchair.
