A 2-year-old blind child received eye surgery and for the first time in her life saw her mother. Her reaction is visceral.

We all take our daily lives for granted. For example, humans have the ability to see, hear, walk, and converse, whereas other people do not.

The inability to see is possibly the worst of all of these things. The simple beauty of a grassy field or a beautiful sky We can’t imagine our lives without these treasures.

That is why we were drawn to this narrative. Nicolly Pereira, two years old, has spent her entire life unable to see or hear her mother. She underwent numerous surgeries in Brazil, but none were successful.

After Nicolly’s mother, Diana Pereira, shared her story on Facebook, a campaign was launched to find a way to give her the ability to see. And the end product was… amazing!

Nicolly was diagnosed with childhood glaucoma shortly after birth, according to the Miami Herald. The doctors were confident she couldn’t see light and would have to spend the rest of her life in the dark.

However, after hearing Diana’s story on Facebook, a Miami Herald reader contacted the Jackson Health Foundation, which collaborated with Kevin Garcia’s company. Nicolly’s operation cost $17,000, which the two charities were able to cover.

After the operation, which reduced her ocular pressure from 50 to 12 (the normal level for children is between 10 and 20), the day arrived to test if the procedure was successful.

We see young Nicolly weeping uncontrollably in a poignant video taken soon after the bandages were removed. She does, however, relax as the physicians remove the bandages from her eyes. She can see for the first time in her life!

She was perplexed for the first few seconds, but when she met her mother, Diana, everything changed.
