Casey Hathaway, a 3-year-old North Carolina boy who was playing at a sibling’s house when he walked into the woods, went missing in 2019. Following the kid’s disappearance, which sparked a nationwide search, dozens of people joined the effort to find him.
A neighbor heard screaming coming from the woods after a few days. Casey reported that when trapped in a thicket and screaming out for his mother, he was kept safe by a hairy buddy.
When we learn about missing kids, most of us have a horrible feeling. You are aware that children cannot care for themselves in the same way that their parents can. You wonder if they understand how to seek help.
We also wonder whether they are aware of who they should avoid and who can help them. Sadly, this is not always the case.
We can’t image what Casey’s family went through when he went missing when he was three years old. He and two other youngsters were playing outside in Ernul, North Carolina. When playing ended, the other two kids went inside, but Casey stayed outside. His great-grandmother looked for him for around 45 minutes without success. She decided to report him missing and call 911 at this point.
Search operations began and lasted many days until Casey was located safe and sound. According to Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes, Casey was not dressed appropriately for the weather at the time of his abduction. How did he get through the cold nights? The bear’s generosity was ascribed to the youngster.
Casey was reported missing, prompting a major effort to find him. It was carried out when divers joined the hunt. The ponds in the region were evaluated. The weather steadily deteriorated as the hours passed. The FBI, the US Marine Corps, and state investigators quickly joined the hunt.
Casey was ultimately found in the briars, but he was readily set free and had an interesting story to tell. According to Casey’s testimony, a kind black bear kept him warm during his two nights away.
Breanna, Casey’s aunt, who had been keeping everyone updated on the situation through her Facebook page, was the first to announce that Casey had been found. She stated:
“He said he spent two days with a bear.” God gave him a partner to keep him safe. There is a wonderful God. Miracles do happen.
Casey’s story may be true or false, but bear researcher Chris Servheen refused to throw doubt on the then-3-year-old testimony. “I don’t want to malign the youngster, but I believe the tiny guy had a dream,” he said. However, it’s reasonable that the child felt comfortable despite being monitored by a wild animal. Whatever it was that helped him get through it.
