Homeless people are a part of our daily lives. People stroll by as though they don’t exist. But this story is an exception, according to The Spectrum.

Maria, the waitress, was working her normal shift when a homeless man sat at one of her tables. He didn’t seem to be very attractive, but Maria approached him and sweetly said, “My name is Maria. Let me know if you want something and I’ll make sure you get it.”

The other servers didn’t even glance at it, much less serve it. And it’s all because the restaurant management informed his staff that if they served someone who couldn’t pay, they’d have to pay them out of pocket. But Mary was undeterred.

Yes, not every homeless person in the region can afford to buy a bank or a restaurant, but they are individuals as well. And they ought to be treated with the same dignity as everyone else.
